Part of the Journeys in Juniper series, this No. 2 Limited Release takes the nine-botanical Fords London Dry recipe and turns it into a sloe gin liqueur. Hand-picked sloe fruit from England and France is steeped in high-proof Fords Gin for 12 weeks, then sugar is added to offset the natural bitterness of the berries. It works equally well over ice or stirred into a classic cocktail, whether it’s poured behind a bar or at home.
The 700 ml bottle comes from a collaboration with 11th Generation Master Distiller Charles Maxwell at Thames Distillers in London. Rather than following the usual sloe gin template, the liquid is cut to 29% ABV / 58 proof, slightly stronger than most, so the gin’s botanicals still register alongside the fruit. Expect a bright, aromatic profile of juniper, citrus peel and gentle spice, with floral notes running underneath.
