Description
Piper-Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage is a bold rosé Champagne from the house in Reims. You notice the deep cherry-red color as soon as you pour. That color comes from still Pinot Noir red wine, blended in before the second fermentation.
Pinot Noir leads the blend and gives the wine its depth. Pinot Meunier adds juicy fruit, and keeps it sharp and clean. The bubbles feel lively but well controlled.
On the nose you get blood orange, wild strawberries and cranberries, with a note of toasted brioche. The palate is intense yet fresh, with red fruit and a crisp grapefruit bitterness. It ends balanced and lingering, with a light touch of spice.
Critics rate it well. Wine Spectator and Jeb Dunnuck each gave it 92 points. It also earned Gold at Mundus Vini in 2024 and 91 points at the International Wine Challenge in 2025.
Serve it at 46 to 50°F, so it is cool but not icy. Piper pairs it with a lobster roll or slow-cooked salmon. Duck à l’orange, seared tuna and berry desserts work too. When you want with real character at the table, this is a lively pick.
