Picked 12 October. RS 99 g/l. Tastes much sweeter than the 1976. Mango and tarragon, papaya and mint. Like a plump golden cushion, to sink into, to kiss and to be kissed. Ginger dessert and cinder toffee but not all sweetness – there is a distinct undertow of autumn leaves and bonfire. Taut, razor-sharp blood orange acidity chiselling the plumpness. So tense and intense and concentration that it has its own energy field! This is likely to age as long and as beautifully as the 1976 – put it away, if you can. (TC)
