Before London dry gin existed, there was genever — and Bols Genever Original follows that older Dutch template. A malt wine base gives the spirit its weight and cereal sweetness, while juniper and a supporting cast of botanicals shape the aromatics. At 42% ABV in a 1 L bottle, it drinks rounder and grainier than a modern gin.
Expect malt wine sweetness up front, juniper through the middle, and quiet botanical detail on the finish. That grain-forward profile works on its own or as the backbone of a cocktail, and it comes from a distiller working within long-standing Dutch production traditions.
