Description
Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 is a full-bodied red from Napa Valley, California. The winery was founded in 1979 and sits in the Rutherford area. The Leonardini family bought the estate in 1993, and they still run it today. Second and third generations of the family now work alongside the winemaking team.
Expect a dark-fruited Napa Cab. On the nose, you’ll find blackberry and black cherry. The palate brings ripe black plum and a touch of dark chocolate, a bit like a chocolate-dipped cherry. Rich, velvety tannins give the wine its shape. The finish is long and smooth, and the dark fruit holds on to the end.
Give it some air before you pour. Decanting for 30 to 45 minutes softens the tannins and opens up the fruit. Serve it just below room temperature in a large glass, so the aromas have space to build.
This Cabernet loves hearty food. Try it with grilled steak or lamb chops off the barbecue. Aged cheddar and roasted mushrooms are good matches too. The dark fruit and firm tannins stand up well to rich, savory flavors.
You can open it tonight, or lay a bottle or two down. Napa Cabernet of this style often gains depth with a few years in the cellar. It’s a smart pick for a dinner party or a gift. If you like a bold, well-built red, put this one on your list.
