Bottled from a single cask at Virginia Distillery Co. in Lovingston, Virginia, Barrel No. 2205 is an American Single Malt made entirely from malted barley. After maturation, the whisky was finished in seasoned Port wine casks, which contribute red-fruit depth, notes of chocolate and layered spice to the malt’s underlying structure.
This 750 ml bottling arrives at cask strength, roughly 60.6% ABV (121.2 proof), so the barrel’s character comes through undiluted. The profile is warm and complex, with oak, spice and dried fruit leading into a smooth, lingering finish. Because it is drawn from one barrel alone, each bottle reflects the particular makeup of No. 2205.
