Description
Espadín is the agave varietal behind most mezcal, recognizable by its tall, blade-like leaves that shield the piña at its center. While Espadín generally matures in five to eight years, this one is given the full eight before harvest, and the additional growing time shows in the glass. The result is sweet and herbaceous, balanced by red apple, ripe fruit and a mild smoky layer. Bottled at 42% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.
The nose opens with fresh herbs and a trace of wood smoke, like a cooling fire pit. On the palate, chopped agave and mesquite lead into sweet red apple and ripe fruit. The finish stays smooth and fruity, closing with a light smoked-wood note.
