Description
Sugarlands Shine Sour Watermelon Moonshine comes from Sugarlands Distilling Co. in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The distillery opened in 2014. It pairs old moonshine-making traditions with playful new flavors. Head Distiller Andrew Holt built this recipe after the team spent years trying to get watermelon just right. It made its debut on National Moonshine Day, June 5, 2024.
It is bottled at 60 proof, or 30% ABV, in the brand’s signature mason jar. That gentle strength keeps it easy to sip. The jar also makes it a fun gift for summer cookouts, lake trips and tailgates.
Open the lid and ripe watermelon jumps out right away, with a tart edge underneath. Your first sip tastes like a juicy slice of summer melon. Then a sour tang arrives and balances the sweetness, a bit like your favorite sour candy. The body is light. The finish is smooth and clean, with sweet and sour fading out together.
You can pour it straight from the jar as a chilled shot or sip it over ice. It mixes well, too. Try it with lemonade for a porch-friendly cooler, or top it with soda water for something lighter. It even adds a fruity twist to a margarita. For snacks, set out fresh fruit, barbecue, summer desserts or a bowl of sour candies.
This jar is a great fit if you like bold fruit flavors with a little pucker. It brings a sense of fun and nostalgia to any gathering, from backyard parties to a quiet evening on the deck.
