Description
Sugar Island Spiced Rum is a sweet, spiced built on Caribbean rum from the US Virgin Islands. Trinchero Family Estates adds spices and bottles it in California.
On the nose you get caramel and vanilla first, with spice waiting behind. Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove rush in first. Then sweet vanilla calms them down.
The finish turns lightly bitter as the sugar fades and the spice comes back. At 46% ABV (92 proof), it has more backbone than most spiced rums.
It shines brightest mixed with cola, ginger beer or a tart tropical juice.
