SKYY Vodka is an American vodka first launched in San Francisco in 1992 by Maurice Kanbar. It is now part of the Campari Group. You’ll spot it easily by its cobalt blue bottle.
It is made from American grain and water. The spirit is distilled four times, then filtered three times through California limestone. Water enriched with Pacific minerals from the San Francisco Bay Area goes in before bottling. That gives a soft hint of salinity and a fuller feel in the mouth.
The nose is fresh and clean, with a faint hint of fruit and toasted grain. On the palate it feels smooth, with subtle salt and minerality. The finish is crisp, dry and clean.
The Beverage Testing Institute gave SKYY a Gold Medal and a score of 90 points. That makes it a solid pick for a well-priced home bar staple.
Serve it ice cold, over ice or in a vodka soda, the brand’s signature drink. It also works in a Martini, Moscow Mule, Bloody Mary or Screwdriver. Pair it with smoked salmon, sushi, mild cheeses or salted nuts. Keep a bottle in the freezer and you’re always ready for guests.
