The Story Behind the Name
Señora Leona takes its name from Leona Vicario, a hero of Mexico’s War of Independence known as “the Lioness” and revered as the “Mother of the Homeland.” She is the only woman honored at El Ángel de la Independencia in Mexico City. How It’s Made
The agave is slow-cooked in autoclave ovens for 14 hours, crushed using a traditional tahona wheel, left to ferment naturally with wild yeast, and double-distilled in copper pot stills. This traditional, hands-on process is what gives Señora Leona its fuller, more textured character compared to many mass-produced blancos.
