Description
Redemption High Rye Bourbon is a bourbon distilled in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, from a mash bill of 60% corn, 36% rye and 4% malted barley, a much higher share of rye than a typical bourbon. That rye content gives the whiskey a spicy, complex edge on top of the classic bourbon backbone of corn sweetness and oak. This is the standard 92-proof bottling in Redemption’s current eagle-embossed bottle, aged in new charred oak and non-chill filtered.
In the glass it shows bold rye spice, black pepper and cinnamon layered over burnt caramel, toffee and dark caramelized sugar. Vanilla, clover honey, toasted almond and the sweetness of corn fill out the palate, leading to a warming finish with creamy oak tannins.
Bottled at 92 proof, it holds up well neat or with a splash of water and has the backbone to anchor spirit-forward cocktails like the Boulevardier and the Manhattan.
