Description
RD One Small Batch is a Kentucky straight bourbon from RD1 Spirits in Lexington. It ages at least four years in new American oak. Then toasted French oak staves go into the barrel.
The oak comes from Central France and seasons for two to three years in Northern California before it is toasted.
The nose leans toward orange peel, rye spice and chocolate. On the palate, caramel comes first, backed by dark cherry, sweet oak, graham cracker and marshmallow. It dries to oak on the finish, with dark chocolate, dark raspberry and a hint of smoke.
It is bottled at 101 proof. It won Gold at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Try this neat, on the rocks or in an Old Fashioned.
