Marking twenty years of rum production, Planteray’s XO 20th Anniversary Extra Old was built around a doble ageing approach, with a second maturation period that broadens the rum’s texture and layers its flavor. The 750 ml bottling comes in at 40% ABV, a strength that keeps the spirit easy to drink without flattening what the extra time in wood contributed.
The long maturation shows up in the glass as molasses and oak, followed by dried fruit, vanilla and a thread of warm spice. Despite the depth, the rum holds the smooth, rounded profile that an XO designation calls for.
