Description
Patrón XO Cafe Dark Cocoa is a with real tequila at its core. Many coffee liqueurs start from a neutral spirit. This one is built on Patrón Silver, made from 100% Blue Weber agave at Hacienda Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico.
Patrón introduced it in 2012 as a darker take on the original XO Cafe. Master distiller Francisco Alcaraz spent years on the recipe. He blended coffee from Veracruz and Chiapas with Criollo cocoa from Tabasco. It is bottled at 30% ABV.
The nose opens with coffee beans, espresso and bitter dark chocolate. On the palate, a gentle sweetness meets a dry espresso note, along with cacao and dark chocolate. A light herbal, peppery tequila character runs underneath. The finish is long, with rich chocolate, coffee and a pinch of black pepper.
Pour it chilled or over ice after dinner. It also makes a great espresso martini, or you can splash it over vanilla ice cream. Serve it beside tiramisu, brownies or chocolate cake. Coffee fans and tequila lovers who like a drier dessert drink will enjoy it most.
