Patrón El Cielo is a silver tequila that Patrón calls the world’s first four-times distilled luxury silver tequila. Master Distiller David Rodriguez developed it from Patrón Silver. The extra run happens in the smallest copper pot still at Hacienda Patrón, in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The aim is to bring out the sweeter side of the agave.
It starts with just three things: 100% Weber Blue agave, water and yeast. Patrón says the recipe was refined over more than 150 tasting sessions. It is bottled at 40% alcohol. Gold designs on the glass take their cue from the volcanic tahona stone and the agave fields. A metallic gold cork seals each bottle.
Pour a glass and the nose feels bright and layered. You’ll find sweet cooked agave, orange rind, a little cinnamon and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, cooked agave meets honey, fresh orange and a light note of roasted coffee. The finish is very smooth and stays with you for a long time.
Patrón’s favorite way to serve it is over ice with a slice of orange. You can also mix a Tequila Royale, a Spritz or a clean tequila Martini. At the table, it works with seafood, roasted chicken, fresh cheeses or a slice of key lime pie.
