Description
Made in Kumamoto from rice grown in the surrounding region, Ohishi Sakura Cask Whisky is distilled on site and matured first in Brandy and Sherry casks. It then spends a minimum of one year finishing in barrels made from Sakura (cherry blossom) oak harvested locally, a step that lends the whisky its deep amber color and its signature note of refined oak spice.
The result is a warm, layered pour at 42.7% ABV, with oak, spice and dried fruit carrying through to a smooth, lingering finish. From the grain in the field to the native oak of the final cask, each stage of production stays close to home, reflecting a Japanese approach that treats local materials and the surrounding environment as part of the whisky itself. 750 ml.
