Description
Bottled at 47% ABV, this 750 ml single malt comes from Nikka’s Miyagikyo distillery, set in a misty northern Japanese valley where soft water and a mild climate encourage a lighter, more refined spirit. Yeast selection does much of the work here: instead of smoke, the focus falls on delicate orchard fruit and floral aromatics.
A malty core anchors the whisky, with layers that build gradually across the nose and palate before settling into a balanced finish. Founded by Masataka Taketsuru, Miyagikyo stands in clear contrast to Nikka’s sturdier Yoichi malts, showing precise fermentation and thoughtful yeast choice as markers of Japanese whisky making.
