Planted in 1973 on the lower slopes and foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, the Yountville vineyard sits where heavy fogs hang on into the late morning, cooling the site through the growing season. It is a place of contrasts — unorthodox, unique, historic and dense. This Newton Single Vineyard bottling draws on the best blocks of Newton’s original vineyard, takes its cue from the great wines of Bordeaux, and is made in small quantities as a limited release.
The three Single Vineyard wines came about in 2016, while the team was blending the 2014 Unfiltered Cabernet Sauvignon: the top blocks from Spring Mountain, Mount Veeder and Yountville stood so far apart in character that each was given its own bottling. Bold, appealing and velvety, this is classic Napa Cabernet with rich, round flavors, balanced and smooth in texture, with subtle notes that speak to how it was made. Built to be kept for the next generation, it will age with grace for 20 to 25 years. 750 ml.
