Description
Muirhead’s Silver Seal 20 Year is a single malt Scotch whisky from Speyside. It has rested for two full decades in carefully selected oak casks. The Muirhead’s name goes back to 1824, when Charles Muirhead founded the brand. This Silver Seal bottling is a limited release.
Long aging gives this whisky a soft, silky feel. It keeps the gentle, fruity style that Speyside is known for. Nothing about it feels harsh or rushed. It is the kind of dram you pour slowly at the end of a long day.
Expect honey and vanilla first, with ripe pear and baked apple. Soft caramel, butterscotch and toasted oak sit underneath. Delicate floral touches drift through the glass. Dried apricot, baking spice, roasted almonds and a little citrus peel add more layers.
The finish is long, smooth and warm. Sweet oak, gentle spice and fruit stay with you well after you swallow. Enjoy it neat, or add a drop or two of water if you like. Shortbread, aged gouda and smoked salmon all pair nicely. Crème brûlée and dark chocolate work for dessert.
This bottle will please you if you love mature Speyside malts. It also makes a lovely gift for a milestone birthday or anniversary.
