Description
Known for seven decades as “The Beast of Dufftown,” Mortlach spent much of the 20th century working behind the scenes as the backbone of some of Scotland’s most recognizable blended whiskies. This 16 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky takes its cue from the distillery’s first bottling in 1992, presenting the spirit on its own terms rather than as one voice in a blend.
Maturation takes place exclusively in Sherry casks, which lend an earthy aroma alongside generous apricot and honey, finishing with a light, leathery spiciness. Bottled at 43.4% ABV (86.8 proof) in a 750 ml bottle, it is a layered malt that shows well over a single block of ice, where the spice and richness open up.
