Description
White Bessi No.3 by (more commonly now known as Michael Gindl) is made in Weinviertal with a blend of Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Scheurebe, Riesling.
Production details of White Bessi No.3: White Bessi No.3 comes from Michael Gindl at MG vom Sol in Hohenruppersdorf, in the eastern Weinviertel about 30 miles from Vienna. The Gindl family has farmed this polycultural land since 1807, and Michael works around 10 hectares using a lunar-calendar approach with help from his sheep, horses and Bessi (his cow, after whom this wine is named). The blend brings together Grüner Veltliner, Pinot Blanc, Scheurebe and Riesling. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, then ferment without temperature control in wooden barrels. Minimal sulphur, no filtration.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of White Bessi No.3 by MG vom Sol, but we hear it has notes of pear, white peach, fresh herbs and a fine mineral lift.
