Description
(a monopole). This is certainly ripe yet still reasonably fresh with its aromas of red cherry, violet, anise and discreet earth wisps. While there is good if not special concentration to the still notably powerful medium- bodied flavors, there is also a bit more refinement than usual, all wrapped in a youthfully austere and saline-inflected finale. What this lacks, at least presently, is first-rate depth but Clos de la Barre is, typically anyway, a wine that benefits substantially from bottle aging.
