Description
This is the oldest and highest-proof bottling from Leopold Bros, entering the barrel at 50% ABV and resting in a dunnage-style warehouse built over an earthen floor, where conditions stay steady from barrel to barrel. Across eight years, water slowly evaporates away and concentrates what remains, leaving a full-bodied cask strength bourbon at 55% ABV in a 750 ml bottle.
The mash bill leans heavily on rye at 65%, with 15% corn and 20% malted grain, giving the whiskey notes of sweet grain and graham cracker. Its viscosity carries an oily texture across the palate, a result of patient maturation and careful warehouse management rather than any shortcut.
