A 2000 vintage Blanc de Blancs from Le Chemin du Roi’s Collection Privée, aged more than ten years on its lees.
The Collection Privée is Le Chemin du Roi’s most exclusive range, and this Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay from the 2000 vintage, sourced from top growers in the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Only first-press juice is used, the wine rested more than ten years on its lees before disgorgement, and it carries a dosage of 8 grams per liter, in an edition of just 993 bottles. In Champagne, 2000 opened with a dry spring, but hail in June and July destroyed about a tenth of the crop before a warm August pushed the surviving fruit to rich ripeness, so quality rested on strict selection. The house describes preserved orange, fresh mint, white tobacco and wet stone, then pineapple, mandarin and toasted caramel, and says the wine will continue to develop with more age. 12.5% ABV, 750ml.
