Description
(larch tree; I was quite excited to taste this elusive and small Gevrey 1er of 1.17 ha for a most curious but nonetheless true set of circumstances. Readers may find it interesting to know that, at least to the best of my knowledge, no wine has been declared as En Ergot since perhaps the 19th century! It is however used as part of several Gevrey 1er blends from such producers as Tortochot and Trapet Père. Both have substantial holdings, or at least large enough to easily make a separately bottled cuvée but alas, they do not. Ponsot farms .42 ha). There are again plenty of floral elements present on the earthy black raspberry-suffused nose that displays a top note of kirsch. The succulent and rounded middle weight flavors possess a beguiling texture along with mineral hints while displaying focused power on the noticeably firmer and youthfully austere but not really rustic finale. Lovely stuff and I particularly like the texture.
