Description
What begins as a Japanese pure malt takes an unusual turn in the finishing stage: time spent in Japanese rum barrels, where the malt picks up character from a spirit tradition entirely its own. The result is a 750 ml bottling at 40% ABV that reads as whisky first, with rum cask influence woven through it.
Tropical fruit and molasses sit alongside vanilla oak and a thread of delicate spice, while the restraint typical of Japanese whisky keeps everything in balance. The malt distillation and the cask work pull in different directions, and the meeting point is what makes this pour worth slowing down for.
