Description
Touch 2022 by is a natural wine made in Burgenland with and grapes (which is a mixed field blend vineyard), with a “touch” of skin contact, but not much. 16 days on skins gives it complexity, but not too much orange wine aspects.
Koppitsch – Touch can feature elements of reduction on the nose, so we suggest pouring into a caraffe to give it some air
Production details of Touch: Touch is made by Alexander and Maria Koppitsch in Neusiedl am See, Burgenland, on the eastern Leitha Mountains with limestone soils. The blend is 50% Welschriesling and 50% Gemischter Satz (a traditional Austrian field blend of Grüner Veltliner, Weissburgunder, Sauvignon Blanc and more). Most grapes are destemmed and ferment in open-top vats, with about 30% getting carbonic maceration. Everything blends into small oak barrels to finish ferment on gross lees for around 10 months. No temperature control. Generally bottled with zero added sulphur.
Tasting Notes: We have not yet tried this vintage of Touch by Koppitsch, but we hear it has notes of passion fruit, mango, citrus pith, green stone fruit and a creamy salt-flecked finish.
