Description
Jean-Pierre Robinot farms a handful of old vineyards in the Loire Valley, on a mosaic of clay, limestone, flint and tuffeau. This quiet corner of the Loire is cooler and wilder than its more famous neighbours, producing wines of tension, energy and unmistakable mineral character.
Beneath the vines lies a network of ancient limestone caves where Robinot ages his wines slowly and patiently. Fermentations can stretch on for months, sometimes years, guided only by the rhythm of the cellar.
Opera Rouge by Jean-Pierre Robinot is a red wine made with negoce grapes of Pineau d’Aunis grown nearby, but made in collaboration with Jean-Pierre Robinot. They are not quite the same magic of his other bottlings but are of a much more attractive pricepoint…
