Description
Jean-Pierre Robinot farms a handful of old vineyards in the Loire Valley, on a mosaic of clay, limestone, flint and tuffeau. This quiet corner of the Loire is cooler and wilder than its more famous neighbours, producing wines of tension, energy and unmistakable mineral character.
Beneath the vines lies a network of ancient limestone caves where Robinot ages his wines slowly and patiently. Fermentations can stretch on for months, sometimes years, guided only by the rhythm of the cellar.
Opera Blanc by Jean-Pierre Robinot is his entry level Negoce wine. Here he uses sourced grapes from other vineyards not owned by him. The pricepoint is cheaper than most Robinot bottles. This is because it does not go through the same aging process as his other cuvees do. As such, it is a more easy going Chenin Blanc than his more complex, magical bottles. These perhaps offer more of the Robinot “Magic”!
