Description
Jean-Pierre Robinot farms a handful of old vineyards in the Loire Valley, on a mosaic of clay, limestone, flint and tuffeau. This quiet corner of the Loire is cooler and wilder than its more famous neighbours, producing wines of tension, energy and unmistakable mineral character.
Beneath the vines lies a network of ancient limestone caves where Robinot ages his wines slowly and patiently. Fermentations can stretch on for months, sometimes years, guided only by the rhythm of the cellar.
L’iris 2022 is a natural wine made with grapes. The grapes are pressed straight to barrel and then it undergoes two years on the lees. The grapes themselvess come from 90 year old vines!! From what we hear, this one has more of a mineralic touch than the 2020 as well as more acidity. Here we’re still on the lemon, apple but also a buttery/biscuity texture from the lees.
Strictly one per order / let’s share the love.
