Description
Jean-Pierre Robinot farms a handful of old vineyards in the Loire Valley, on a mosaic of clay, limestone, flint and tuffeau. This quiet corner of the Loire is cooler and wilder than its more famous neighbours, producing wines of tension, energy and unmistakable mineral character.
Beneath the vines lies a network of ancient limestone caves where Robinot ages his wines slowly and patiently. Fermentations can stretch on for months, sometimes years, guided only by the rhythm of the cellar.
Camille 2018 is a rare red wines from Jean-Pierre Robinot, made with Pineau d’Aunis grapes from 110 year old vines and aged for 15 months in old barrels!
This special Robinot bottle tastes exceptional! It features the usual peppery spice of the grape brilliantly showcased by the master , as well as forest fruits ….but here also with an interesting note of cacao, umami, mushrooms and dark chocolate! Very different to his usual wine characteristics and a welcome surprise!!!
