Description
Ilegal Mezcal Reposado rests for six months, with each lot aged to taste in a mix of new and used American oak barrels given a medium char. Those barrels come from Kelvin Cooperage, a family-run business since 1963. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 375 ml format, it drinks with a velvety texture from start to finish.
The aroma leads with caramelized pear and bitter orange, while the palate turns toward clove, butterscotch, and faint vanilla. Underneath sits the mezcal itself: smoke and earth, roasted agave, citrus zest, and a close marked by minerality and pepper.
