Hudson Single Malt is an American single malt from Tuthilltown Spirits in New York’s Hudson Valley. It is pot distilled from 100% malted barley.
The spirit ages in small new American oak casks, so the wood works fast. That gives it a bolder, bourbon-like edge than most Scotch.
Expect vanilla, oak, cinnamon and a little dried apricot on the nose. The palate is big and oak-led, with sweet malt, spice and floral, piney notes. The finish stays sweet, with a hint of orange peel.
Sip it neat at 46% ABV, or add a few drops of water. It suits curious drinkers who like malt with an American accent.
