Description
Hudson Four Grain Bourbon comes from Tuthilltown Spirits in New York. Tuthilltown made the first legal pot-still whiskey in the state since Prohibition. The mash uses corn, rye, wheat and malted barley. It is double pot distilled.
The spirit matures in small three-gallon barrels of new American oak. Each bottle is numbered and sealed with wax by hand.
The nose shows nutmeg, a hint of vanilla and a touch of pencil shavings. The palate brings cinnamon, toasted caramel and oak, with a cool menthol note. The finish is long, with mint that lingers.
It won Double Gold at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Sip it neat or over ice. It goes well with BBQ ribs, cornbread or aged cheddar.
