Winemaker’s Notes
Heitz Cellar builds this Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon from estate-grown fruit spanning six appellations: Oakville, Rutherford, Howell Mountain, St. Helena, Oak Knoll and Calistoga. The wine is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the estate identifies its farming as sustainable, CCOF-certified organic and Fish Friendly Farming certified.
The winery keeps the individual vineyard lots separate through fermentation and French-oak aging, tasting them over the first two years before blending the Napa Valley bottling. That deliberate process is followed by another year in bottle, giving the finished wine time to settle before it leaves the cellar.
Critic Ratings
James Suckling Review – Rated 94: A medium-bodied cabernet that achieves a good, lively balance. Red and black cherry, dark chocolate, black olive and spearmint flavors on moderate tannins. Good freshness. Drink now or hold.
