Ascension brings together two straight bourbons from Heaven’s Door — one built on a high-rye recipe, the other on a traditional mash — married into a single small-batch release. Both components carry more than five years of age, and the whiskey goes into the bottle without chill filtration at 46% ABV in a 750 ml format.
The result leans rich rather than loud: caramel and vanilla lead the nose, with oak, toasted nuts and baking spice filling in behind them. A smooth, gently sweet finish carries the warmth through, reflecting the Kentucky distillery’s focus on substance in a limited production run.
