Description
Hakushu 18 Year Old Peated Malt is a limited 2024 release from Suntory’s Hakushu distillery, tucked in the forested Southern Japanese Alps of Yamanashi. This expression draws on peated malt aged a minimum of eighteen years, a departure from Hakushu’s typically unpeated, greenery-driven house style, and highlights the distillery’s smokier side within its long-running lineup of small-batch age statements.
The whisky opens with layered smoke against Hakushu’s signature herbal, forest-like backdrop, unfolding into notes of dried citrus peel and soft minerality before settling into a long, smoldering finish. Eighteen years in cask brings a rounded depth to the peat, balancing char and earthiness with the distillery’s characteristic freshness.
A standout for collectors of Japanese whisky and a fitting addition alongside other aged single malts from Suntory’s portfolio, including Yamazaki and Hibiki expressions available at . Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
