Description
Gordon & MacPhail is the family-owned independent bottler of Elgin, Speyside, matching Scotland’s single malts to its own carefully curated casks since 1895. This Connoisseurs Choice release spent fourteen years maturing in a first fill sherry hogshead before being bottled at full cask strength, unchillfiltered intensity straight from the wood — the range that helped introduce single malt whisky to the world, presented at its most undiluted.
First fill sherry wood dominates the glass: stewed dark fruits, raisin, and fig roll into toasted walnut, orange peel, and dark chocolate, while the cask-strength delivery concentrates every layer of treacle, baking spice, and espresso before a long, clinging sherried finish. A few drops of water relax the grip and coax out softer honeyed orchard fruit.
Single-cask sherry bottlings from Gordon & MacPhail disappear quickly once allocated, making this a strong candidate for the collector’s shelf or a serious gift for the scotch drinker who has everything. Pair it with other single malt scotch and independent bottlings from the collection to build a tasting flight worth savoring. Ships to most US states. Adult-signature required at delivery.
