Thirteen years in the making, this Single Pot Still Irish whiskey from Gold Spot marks seven generations of the Mitchell family. It follows the house pattern of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry cask maturation, then spends a further 16 months in Italian wine casks that previously held Valpolicella Riciotto, bottled at 46% ABV in a 700 ml format.
The wine casks bring dark fruit and red berry compote into play alongside toffee apple and raisin, with pot still spice running through the middle. Oak and the seasoned casks lend fine tannins, while a soft, layered sweetness rounds everything off into a balanced Generations Edition dram.
