Description

This release looks back to the 19th century, when casks of port were a fixture in Scotland. Port pipes made their way from Portugal down the Douro River to stock the wine cellars of Scotland’s gentry, and the Douro Valley remains known for its port today. A selection of its finest port pipes was chosen to hold The GlenDronach for a second maturation lasting three years.

The Master Blender then married the whisky drawn from those pipes into a fruit-driven ten year old single malt Scotch, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750 ml bottle. Intense cherry wood opens onto layer after layer of rich fruit, with blackberry and roasted apple crumble, freshly baked gingerbread, and a back-note of baked orange and black cherry. Orange peel, sultana and cherry cake carry through the long, richly fruity finish.
