Description
Remus Gatsby Reserve is a 15 year old straight bourbon with a Roaring Twenties story. It comes from the historic Ross & Squibb Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The first release arrived in October 2022, inspired by The Great Gatsby. Its Art Deco bottle nods to the glamour of the Prohibition era.
Each yearly release is limited. The bourbon blends barrels from two high-rye mash bills. It aged for 15 years in charred American oak barrels. The result pours a deep amber and brings plenty of spice.
Warm vanilla and butterscotch greet you on the nose. Toasted pecans, aged oak and a little leather follow. Cinnamon, dried fruit and a hint of orange zest add depth. On the palate, caramel and vanilla come first, then dark cherry and fig. Baking spice, toasted oak and dark chocolate build from there. The finish is long and warm, with toffee, clove and nutmeg.
Try it neat first, then add a few drops of water if you want. One large ice cube also works well. It goes nicely with grilled meats, aged cheeses or a rich chocolate dessert.
