Espolòn Extra A”ejo spends three years resting in bourbon barrels before moving into French Chardonnay barrels for a further eight months. That two-stage maturation shapes the spirit in different directions: the bourbon wood contributes vanilla and oak, while the Chardonnay finish layers in softer fruit notes and a more refined edge.
The palate runs sweet and spicy at once, with caramel and vanilla arriving first and baking spices following behind. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 750 ml bottle, it drinks smoothly on its own and holds its shape in premium cocktails, making it a fitting choice for anyone exploring long-aged tequila.
