Description
Two distilling traditions meet in this bottling: Carlos Camarena, El Tesoro’s former Master Distiller, worked with Shinji Fukuyo, the fifth-generation Chief Blender at Suntory, to finish El Tesoro A\u00f1ejo in casks that once held Yamazaki 12-Year-Old Japanese whisky. The tequila spends 12 months in those sherry and wine barrels, which layer red berry and warm spice character over the aged agave base.
At 42% ABV, the 750 ml release drinks with mineral edges, toasted almonds and pecans, raw honey and a measured bitterness, trailing into sherry, toasted coffee bean and dark chocolate. It was made as a one-time collaboration and will not be produced again.
