Mountain Cabernet from Duckhorn’s Howell Mountain estate, high above the Napa Valley floor. The 2021 is bold and layered, with wild boysenberry, blueberry and black plum on dense, fine-grained tannins.
Howell Mountain’s volcanic soils and elevation above the fog line give concentrated, firmly structured Cabernet. Duckhorn’s 2021 blends 88% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, then ages 24 months: 18 in new French oak and six more in neutral barrels. Wild boysenberry, blueberry and black plum mingle with cedar, cocoa powder and allspice, and the dense palate is balanced by the softening touch of Merlot. Limited availability. 750ml, 14.5% ABV.
