Description
Les Chamoz 2023 is a natural wine crafted by , in the Jura region in . This red wine is made with , , and grapes.
This wine is very nice and refined, with a nice perfumed nose and slight hint of iron, less herbal than some other Jura reds for sure, and quite cool and unique. There is a smooth, almost silky mouthfeel with a soft peppery touch.
When asked why the different style of label, Julien Maraschal states that “Regarding the Chamoz labels, I really wanted to differentiate them from Pupillin, because the soils, and therefore the profiles and textures of the wines, are profoundly different!
In Pupillin, there’s more of a clay influence that’s pronounced in the wines (except for Côte de Caillot), and in Chamoz, it’s very clearly a limestone influence (Kimmeridgian).”

We filmed the wonderful Julien Maréschal in Pupilin, Jura. Here he discusses the importance of Vin Jaune to him personally, as well as the various soil types he works with and how he came to make wine in Pupillin, which was always a place dear to his heart. Turned out he is quite the musician as well as a master winemaker too!
