Description
Domaine Carneros Brut is a California sparkling wine from a winery founded by the Champagne house Taittinger. It blends estate-grown Chardonnay with from many blocks and clones. The fruit comes from the cool Carneros district, at the southern end of .
The wine is made by the traditional method, with its second fermentation in the bottle. It then rests at least three years on the lees before release. That long rest gives it a toasty edge and very fine bubbles. The result is a dry, crisp brut at 12% alcohol.
Pour a glass and you will find lemon zest, white flowers and a touch of brioche on the nose. Stone fruit drifts in behind them. The palate feels round and full, with fresh pear, apple and a little ginger. It closes fresh and lifted, so you are ready for the next sip.
The winery suggests you enjoy it on its own, or with something simple like popcorn or goat cheese. Classic shellfish dishes work well too, from oysters to shrimp and grits. Creamy cheeses and lighter Asian dishes are also good partners.
Serve it well chilled in a flute or tulip glass. It is a lovely bottle for brunch, a toast or a quiet evening at home. If you enjoy with real depth, this one is easy to love.
