Description
Crown Royal XR is a rare blended Canadian whisky. It includes one of the final batches of whisky from the LaSalle distillery in Montreal. LaSalle opened in 1924 and stopped distilling in 1993.
The nose is rich and complex, with dried fruit and honey. On the palate it is lightly sweet, with spicy notes of Canadian rye. The finish is long, peppery and warm, with raisins and brown sugar.
In 2019 it won the Chairman’s Trophy at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge.
Sip it neat or add a splash of chilled water. Dark chocolate, aged cheese or roasted nuts make good partners.
