How is Croix Pennet by Clos Bateau made?

Croix Pennet sees 11 days of semi carbonic maceration, before part of it being aged in used Burgundy barrels for 8 months, and the rest in stainless steel, before being blended together.

What does Croix Pennet 2024 taste like?

Different to the previous 2023, this vintage of 2024 was tasted by us in mid November 2025, shortly after arrival and we feel this is a wine which could benefit from a little further aging in the bottle to express itself fully. It’s freshly bottled and drinking at this moment is a little shy on the nose, with a palate expression of sour cherries, vanilla and mild spice.

A wine we suggest to age a little and carafe when opening to get the most out of it.

About Croix Pennet from Clot Bateau

When we look from our house to the mountain direction Regnie-Durette, there is a parcel of almost a half hectare that belongs to us. It’s quite funny because half of it is Regnie and the other side is Lantignie. Both villages calls it Croix Pennet, but only Lantignié uses 2 times the n. The exposition is south facing and it’s full of big granite rocks. It’s a terroir specific and every year this parcellaire wine have this Croix Pen(n)et taste which is hard to explain. We do some longer macerations, and we age 70% on Burgundy barrels.
