Cazcanes No. 7 Reposado takes its name from the Cazcanes, a resilient native people of western Mexico. The tequila honors that heritage with slow, old-style methods. It starts with 100% organic blue Weber agave from Jalisco, picked when the sugars peak.

The agave cooks for about a day in a low-pressure autoclave. Volcanic spring water from the Navichi Springs is trucked in for each batch. After fermentation, it is double distilled in stainless pots with copper coils. It is certified organic and kosher.

The team ages it “to taste, not time.” Barrels rest from a few months to nearly a year, then get blended. They use American oak that is reworked and recharred to their own specs. The first release came out in 2018, with just 600 bottles.

You’ll smell sweet cooked agave, vanilla, and butterscotch, with white pepper and hazelnut. A little thyme, coconut, and caramel round it out. The sip is silky and sweet, with agave, vanilla, and toasted coconut. The finish is long, with caramel, vanilla, and warm spice. It took Bronze at the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition and Silver at the 2025 Agavos Awards.

Sip it neat from a tulip glass, or mix a Reposado Old Fashioned or Paloma. It goes well with grilled meats, seafood, tacos, and mole. Try it with flan or churros for dessert. If you’re made with care and history, this one belongs on your shelf.
